Ergonomically designed storage for sample holders and weights.
What is a good Martindale rating?
A good Martindale rating depends on the fabric being tested and the end use. A light weight woven fabric for apparel may achieve 7,000-10,000 revolutions before thread break and be considered a good result, but a heavy weight upholstery fabric will achieve over 30,000 revolutions. It is essential to use approved, standard referenced Martindale Test Materials and appropriate reference Photographic Standards. Always revert to the test method and customer expectation for actual performance requirements.
How do you do a pilling test?
The Martindale Pilling test differs from abrasion with the test cycle movement, sample size, applied weight and test specimen being rubbed against a piece of the same fabric rather than a standard abradent cloth. It is essential to use approved, standard referenced Martindale Test Materials. Assessment is carried out using a Pilling Assessment Viewer (PAV) and reference standard photographs.
What is an abrasion test?
The Martindale abrasion test assesses the performance of a fabric to being rubbed over a standard abradent cloth and/or other reference abradent material. Assessment is based on the number of lissajous revolutions needed to achieve a specified point of distress. It is essential to use approved, standard referenced Martindale Test Materials.
