Fortis
Infrared Yarn Coating and Bonding System
Designed for higher speed production and significantly reduced footprint, the Fortis is a highly advanced infrared yarn coating and bonding system. The vertical operation enables not only a reduction in space, but greater control of the coating and bonding process.

What’s does the Fortis do?
-
Vertical coating and bonding
-
High speed operation (up to 600 m/min)
Minimal dye/ chemical takeup
Continuous, even application
Fortis is the ideal choice for those producing a wide variety of coated and bonded yarns, inbetween sample and bulk production.
With up to 6 high-speed-heads in one full system, the Fortis offers a compelling alternative to traditional horizontal bonding methods.
Key features:
- Fully programmable tension and speed through each pass
- Adjustable IR heating elements for precise temperature control
- Touch screen control system with user defined presets
- 4 dosing applicators for bond and chemical solutions
- Up to 17 passes through the oven

Constructed from only the highest grade materials, Roaches Foris is a robust yet ergonomic system.
Additional units can be added seamlessly to continue a larger coating and bonding line, to suit bespoke production needs.
Our vertical coating and bonding system offers a combination of space efficiency, process control, and product quality improvements.

What types of coatings can be used on Fortis?
There are any number of coatings that can be used on the Fortis, with some of the most popular so far being dye stuffs and finishing coatings such as FR treatments. There are far more applications that can be used such as bio-coatings for medical textiles, and even metallic coatings for technical textiles, as just two examples.
What is the capacity of the Fortis?
There can be up to 6 heads or ends per set-up, with one head per unit. The system can be customisable to suit small research and development lines as well as being able to accomodate higher production demands with all 6 heads. Whilst this is typically a lower number of heads compared to horizontal coating and bonding, the Fortis is able to complete the process up to 3x times faster, with far more uniform application.
